Around 4:00 o'clock Friday afternoon, there was a car fire on exit ramp 78 (I-24) next to the Clarion Inn that is on the Old Fort Parkway.
Within seconds, the blaze grew larger.
This occurred during Friday afternoon drive time at the busy I-24 exit 78 onto the Old Fort Parkway.
A supervisor from Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services was the first responder.

While the fatal three vehicle crash on South Church near Veterans Parkway was being handled by emergency responders, a car fire on exit 78 that leaves I-24 onto the Old Fort Parkway was unfolding.

The engine in a small silver compact car caught fire and spread. The westbound I-24 exit onto the inbound lanes of the Old Fort Parkway had to be shutdown for a period of time while crews assisted with the blaze. This is the exit ramp that is beside the Clarion Hotel.

A supervisor from Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services was first on-the-scene shortly after 4:00 o'clock Friday afternoon (6/24/2016).
