Celebrate Christmas Downtown Murfreesboro December 6th

  Email   Print

Friday, December 6 at 6 P.M. the Historic Downtown Square will ring in the official Christmas spirit with the Main Street lighting of the Rutherford County Christmas tree. Bring a chair, blanket and cozy up with your loved ones for one hour of entertainment. Come early and stay late for the children to enjoy free hot chocolate and children's crafts thanks to our sponsors.

Sure to bring goose bumps will be the debut of Murfreesboro's first Community Christmas Choir made up voices from churches all over the city. The stage will be filled with a multi-generational, multi-ethnic, mix of voices filling the downtown with Christmas classics for all to join in.

Thanks to our presenting sponsor Murfreesboro Electric along with Pinnacle Financial Partners, CSL Plasma, Redstone Federal Credit Union, the Rutherford Convention and Visitors Bureau, National Dance Club, First Vision Bank, Dempsey, Vantrease & Follis, WalMart, and downtown lawyers, Main Street offers this free event to promote our downtown and carry on the tradition of ringing in the official Christmas season when both our mayors along with Santa, his elf, and special guests from the Boys and Girls' Club turn on the lights of the courthouse tree.

Stores will stay open until 9pm for you to get your Christmas shopping done early! Check out Main Street's Holiday Window Tour and Contest downtown, sponsored by Redstone Federal Credit Union. Come downtown between Black Friday and December 5th to vote for your favorite store front display and enter to win a $100 cash prize. A judges choice winner will receive a $250 prize and the business with the most customer votes will receive a $150 prize. To enter the contest, it's really simple. Post a selfie in front of your favorite downtown holiday window display and then make sure to TAG and LIKE both @mainstreetmurfreesboro and the business you are voting for.
