Celebration Under the Stars in Murfreesboro was both musical and enjoyable for local residents. The event was held at Sports*Com and the Mcknight baseball fields on the 4th of July.

The Independence Day Celebration started at 10:00 Tuesday morning with swimming at the Boro Beach, which is the Sports*Com outdoor pool. The night closed down with the Murfreesboro Symphony Orchestra playing patriotic tunes during a massive firework display at 9:00 Tuesday evening.

The firework display was approved by the Murfreesboro City Council this past April. Bids were submitted to the city in March of 2017 and the winning proposal was from a company in LaFollette, Tennessee called Pyro Shows, Inc.

The cost of the fireworks rang in at $25,000. The funds to pay for the special display came from the Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Departments' Special Events category.
