Central Magnet 1st Place in Class at The Great Race!

Congratulations to the Central Magnet School team who participated in The Great Race. On Sunday (6/30/2019) afternoon Bonnie, the green 1953 Pontiac Chieftain, pulled across the finish line in Tacoma, Washington.

Central Magnet School's SRO Sgt. Scott Culp drove the classic Pontiac on the 2,300-mile course while students navigated.

The race was not for speed, but it was a time/speed/distance rally, and sponsored by Hemmings Motor News. In reality, it is a timed speed endurance race for vintage vehicles that are 1974 and older.

The 2019 GREAT RACE started last Saturday (6/22/2019) in Riverside, California and continued for 2,300 miles to Tacoma, Washington. It ended at 1:30PM Sunday (6/30/209) afternoon in Tacoma.

This was the third year that the Central Magnet School team has participated in The Great Race.

Again, congratulations to Central Magnet School for placing first in their class in The Great Race.
