Here is an update on THE GREAT RACE 2019 in which a team from Central Magnet School competes again. It started last Saturday (6/22/2019) and wraps-up this coming Sunday (6/30/2019). This is the third year the local school has participated and is again using the 1953 Pontiac Chieftain.

RCSO School Resource Officer Scott Culp is coordinating the effort.

The first year Central Magnet competed had a course with a stop in Murfreesboro. This year's event is along the west coast from California to Washington.

Five students and 3 adults are making this adventure that is filled with practical use of math, how to read maps and hands-on mechanic work.

The 2019 GREAT RACE started last Saturday in Riverside, California and continues for 2,300 miles to Tacoma, Washington this coming Sunday, June 30, 2019. This is a timed speed endurance race for vintage vehicles that are 1974 and older models.
