Murfreesboro Fire & Rescue Department will be hosting one Child Safety Seat Inspection Station a week over the next four weeks.

These inspection stations will be held Thursday, July 23 (Station 7 on N Thompson Lane), Wednesday, July 29 (Station 8 on E Northfield Blvd), Thursday, August 6 (Station 7 on N Thompson Lane), and Friday, August 14 (Headquarters on E Vine Street).

Parents/caregivers can stop by on any of the dates between 2:00-4:00 pm and MFRD Child Safety Seat Technicians will educate them on proper seat selection, placement, and installation.

"Typically at these events, we find that at least four out of every five seats checked are installed incorrectly," said Assistant Fire Marshal and Child Safety Seat Coordinator Carl Peas. "Our job is to correct these mistakes and educate the parents/caregivers on proper installation to ensure that their children ride safely."

There is no cost for these events.
