One person was killed and two others were injured when a possible tornado passed over their homes in Christiana.

Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services PIO Patrick Miller says the storm hit neighborhoods in the area of Midland Road:

That was at 8085 Midland Road. Miller adds there were injuries in a nearby mobile home:

Rutherford County Fire and Rescue Public Information Officer Lisa Sloan says lightning is believed to be the cause of a home fire in the 100 block of Barley Road:

Miller says another home on Midland Road was damaged when a tree fell on it. The male homeowner inside was inside but refused treatment.

There are about 15-hundred without electricity in the area.

Miller says travel to the Midland Road area is discouraged as daylight brings cleanup:

The storm that hit Christiana was part of a larger system that brought high winds and isolated tornadoes across Middle Tennessee. There were several tornado warnings issued for Rutherford County late Monday night and early Tuesday morning.

A reminder that Rutherford County and Murfreesboro City Schools are closed today (Tuesday) for election day, which will aid in cleanup in storm affected areas.
