"Our first class is now underway and it has proven very enlightening to our citizens, whether hearing from our officers or experiencing patrol or dispatch first-hand," said Police Chief Mike Walker. "Residents enrolled in the Citizens Police Academy are gaining insight about law enforcement in La Vergne. The academy is designed to build community understanding and a working knowledge of our department. I would encourage anyone interested in public safety to apply."

The classes will be held Tuesday nights from 5:30 - 8:30 p.m. at the La Vergne Police Department, located behind City Hall at 5093 Murfreesboro Rd. Seating is limited, so applications should be turned in no later than December 30, 2014 at the police department.
