The iconic City Café on East Main Street is under new ownership in its 113th year. Tammy Greer and Teresa Kellogg took over from Rusty and Cindy Perkins last week.

Greer and Kellogg come here with a background from Midway Diner in Deason, which was owned by Greer's parents, Bill and Pat Crowder.

City Café wasn't for sale, but Cindy Perkins says she was approached by two real estate agents who asked her about selling. One represented buyers who wanted to turn the building into something else, and that didn't work, while the other wanted to maintain the restaurant.

She met with Greer and Kellogg and says she knew almost immediately they would be the right type of owners.

The Perkins plan to spend more time with their family and take a vacation, something they haven't done in seven years.
