The Murfreesboro City Council was set to discuss giving all full time employees a 12-hundred dollar pay raise at their most recent meeting. However, that discussion was deferred to a planned August retreat.

They did give city workers a two-percent boost in pay but Councilman Eddie Smotherman's proposal was put off for discussion at the retreat. His proposal could boost pay by 12-hundred dollars for employees making under 60-thousand dollars, with the two-percent raise remaining intact for those making more.

The council is also set to discuss the two-percent pay increase for City Manager Rob Lyons. The two-percent pay hike applied to all city workers except Lyons. Some on the council want to evaluate the increase, which would bump his pay by a little over four-thousand dollars.
