The Murfreesboro City Schools held an "Employee Recognition Celebration" Wednesday (5/10/2017) evening at the Grove at Williamson Place.

Assistant Superintendent of Human Resources Ralph Ringstaff quipped, "Dr. Gilbert wanted to invite the entire staff, so consideration was given to bussing the approximately 12-hundred employees to Barfield Park for an outing. Then someone questioned inclement weather."

The decision was to host a dinner at the Grove at Williamson Place and honor the district teachers of the year, Teachers of the Year, the Support Staff of the Year, the Departmental Employees of the Year, and a special farewell to the twenty-nine retirees.

Superintendent Dr. Linda Gilbert said, "Tonight we acknowledge the exemplary talents of the best of the best. We celebrate the people who form the foundation of Murfreesboro City Schools. And we thank them for choosing to make an impact here. It is through their hard work, high expectations, big hearts, and positive mindsets that children and the future are being forever changed."

WGNS' Bart Walker was honored to have served as emcee of this special event honoring the caring staff with the Murfreesboro City School system.
