Cocaine, marijuana and Percocet pills were found in a car during a traffic stop in Murfreesboro on Wednesday. The stop was made on Bell Street when police observed a non-working taillight.

When Officer Westley Hall approached the Toyota being driven by 18-year old Matthew Waters, he allegedly smelled the odor of marijuana. Another officer saw Waters stuff something under his seat.

When police searched the car, they found a small bag of white powdery substance under the front seat. They also located a partially smoked blunt and two Percocet pills along with a folded dollar bill containing more white powder that later tested positive for cocaine.

Waters evidently claimed ownership of all of the items found in the car. He also claimed ownership of two cellphones which contained numerous text messages alluding to the sale of cocaine. When confronted about selling cocaine, he admitted to doing so, according to police report.

The 18 year old was charged with "Felony Possession of a Schedule II drug, Simple Possession of a Schedule II and Simple Possession of a Schedule VI Drug." The suspect was also served a warrant for "Violation of Probation." Waters was then placed in jail under a $21,000 bond. However, there is currently a hold on Waters, so he cannot actually be bonded out of jail at this time.

Waters is scheduled to appear in a Rutherford County courtroom on January 26, 2017.
