Congressman Jim Cooper will be the keynote speaker for the annual Jefferson, Jackson, Kennedy Dinner of the Rutherford County Democratic Party on Saturday, June 20, 2015 at the Smyrna Town Center. Rep. Cooper is the 5th District United States House of Representatives for the past 12 years. A New York Times columnist recently called him "the House's conscience, a lonely voice for civility in this ugly era" and a "tart-tongued moderate" who "seeks bipartisanship on fiscal matters and other issues in a polarized political climate."

While the Jefferson, Jackson, Kennedy Dinner is an important fundraising event for the Rutherford County Democratic Party, it is also a celebration of the work of local democratic leaders and inspiration for the election of democratic candidates who support opportunities for all citizens. Tennessee State Democratic Party Chair, Mary Mancini, will also be a featured speaker. Ms. Mancini is well-known in the Nashville music business community and is the second woman to lead the Tennessee Democratic Party. Sharing the platform will be Rep. Mike Stewart, who for the past 7 years has been the Tennessee State House of Representative for District 52 and is an attorney with the Nashville law firm of Branstetter, Stranch & Jennings, and TN State Senator Sara Klye. Ms. Klye represents District 30, served on the Public Service Commission, taught elementary school and has served as a judge in Memphis City Court. Master of Ceremonies for the June 20 event will be Mike Terry, a partner with E Allan Brandon firm in Murfreesboro, and served 15 years as the Political Director for former Congressman Bart Gordon.
