A 25-year old convicted felon was apprehended in Murfreesboro for possessing a handgun. Under current law, a convicted felon is not allowed to go armed in the community. When Keith D. Jones, Jr. goes to court, he could face jail time for being armed.

According to a police report dated October 21, 2014, Jones was stopped for changing lanes without using a proper signal. When Officer Hall questioned Jones, an odor of intoxicant was smelled in the vehicle. Apparently the smell was from marijuana.

A probable cause search took place and Officer Hall found a silver Raven Arms .25-caliber handgun with five bullets in the magazine. Because Jones was previously convicted of "Aggravated Robbery" in Rutherford County, he is not allowed to go armed and was therefore charged with "Possession of a Weapon by a Felon."

Jones will appear in court on December 18, 2014.
