More fraud to report that has affected local residents… A self-employed Murfreesboro woman attempting to find a home to rent in nearby Nashville thought she had found the perfect house on Kentucky Avenue. Little did she know her correspondence would be with a scam artist?

The victim told police she found the house on Nashville CraigsList. After agreeing to rent the property, she sent them man a deposit and money for the first month’s rent.

The victim said the man whom she spoke to on the phone told her he was renting the house out because he and his wife were in Arkansas doing “Mission Work.” When the victim failed to receive keys for the house she grew suspicious. An internet search revealed the same home was for rent by a Davidson County area rental company. That was when she called the Murfreesboro police because she interacted with the subject while in Murfreesboro. She also sent the money via Western Union from a Murfreesboro business.

The victim is now out over $1,000. So far, an arrest has not been made.

On a side note, one of the email addresses the victim interacted with the culprit was “Always In God 12 @Hotmail.com.”
