Deadly Tanker Fire on I-24 in Smyrna

A tanker hauling that had been loaded with poly-oil caught fire on I-24 at mile maker 70, which is the Almaville Road exit. The poly-oil had been off loaded before the crash. The driver of the big rig was killed in the crash.

It happened around 8:20 Thursday (12/6/2018) morning and the interstate was shut down in both directions.

Rutherford County Fire and Rescue reports one person was killed in the tanker fire.
