Debris Killing Grass and Safety Issue for Motorists

(MURFREESBORO) Tree limbs, brush and hedge trimming is not only creating bad "visible first impression" for visitors to Murfreesboro, it's also killing grass and becoming an obstacle to motorists driving city streets--especially at night.

Murfreesboro Mayor Shane McFarland commented . . .


The situation has been made worse with several storm fronts that have brought rain and high winds, and toppled trees, downed limbs, and split bushes. It all creates large amounts of debris. The situation has been made worse with the city not picking up the debris.



Murfreesboro officials have placed a new person over the Utility Department . . .

In addition to potentially being a traffic hazard, the debris that's sitting in yards is killing grass.

Mayor McFarland says this problem will be corrected . . .

The mayor was quick to point out, that this is a leadership problem . . .

NewsRadio WGNS has surveyed all areas of Murfreesboro and each section is being impacted (see photos). The radio station is monitoring this situation closely, and will keep the public informed.
