If you have lost a loved-one to Alzheimer's or dementia, you will want to attend a candle light commemorance service at 3:00 o'clock this Friday afternoon (11/15/2013) at New Vision Baptist Church, 1750 North Thompson Lane.

The commemorative candle lighting ceremony was initiated by the Alzheimer’s Foundation of America and hosted locally by Mindful Care Adult Day Services.

Mindful Care President Tom Tozer said, "This begins a weekend of prayer to commemorate and honor those people who have passed away as a result of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias, to honor the estimated 5.1 million Americans who are currently living with this brain disorder and to pay tribute to family members and caregivers who give their time and care to their afflicted loved ones. This commemoration is also a call to arms to continue the fight and seek a cure for this sixth leading cause of death in the U.S."

Tozer noted, "With our aging population, the incidence of Alzheimer’s disease is rising and will continue to increase."

The Alzheimer’s Foundation of America is a leading national nonprofit organization headquartered in New York and focuses on providing optimal care to individuals with Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias.
