A 22-year old man was arrested this past weekend after a loss prevention officer from Walmart on Old Fort Parkway caught him stealing. The subject evidently filled a shopping cart with beer and food and simply rolled the cart out the front door. When the loss prevention worker spotted the suspect and an accomplice – they ran. However, the Walmart worker physically caught the 22-year old. The second suspect pushed down a child in order to run away. The child was not seriously injured.

When police arrived, there was only one subject to arrest as the other one fled the scene. The 22-year old who was picked up on shoplifting charges claims he acted alone and does not know who the man who ran with him was.

Normally, only a citation is written for shoplifters who steal less than $300 of merchandise. In this case, the suspect did not have any I.D. with him and he was reportedly being “deceitful,” so he was taken to jail.
