Department of Corrections Computer Stolen in Murfreesboro

A laptop computer belonging to the Tennessee Department of Corrections was stolen out of a car belonging to a department employee. The theft occurred in Murfreesboro and reports indicate that not only the laptop, but also an Ipad were taken in the theft.

The man who left the items in the car told police he works for the Probation and Parole office under the Department of Corrections in Columbia, Tennessee. The theft was reported just prior to the New Year's weekend. The car was parked on Eastview Drive in Murfreesboro when it was broken into.

There has been no word released on what information was saved to the laptop or if it was private information.

While not the property of the Department of Corrections, the victim also told police that his personal handgun and two extended magazines were also stolen out of the vehicle.
