Chris Devaney was re-elected as chairman of the Tennessee Republican party, defeating former State Representative Joe Carr of Lascassas. The votes by the executive committee were tallied Saturday, with Devaney garnering 47 votes to Carr's 17.

Carr did not seek re-election to the state House to run against Lamar Alexander for U-S Senate. It's the fourth time Devaney has been elected chairman of the state Republican Party.
