Diane Stockard Art Exhibit and Reception at Community Art Gallery

MURFREESBORO, Tenn. -- The Washington Theatre at Patterson Park Community Center will host Colorful Creations Within the Soul, a collection of art by Diane J. Stockard from July 26 through August 29, 2019. The public is invited to the opening reception on Saturday, July 27 from 4 until 6 p.m. at the art gallery in the lobby of the Washington Theatre.

Diane Stockard is a self-taught artist, art business owner, photographer, writer and realtor. She has won several art awards and community leadership awards including placing third in an international world art competition. She is known for her bright colors and music art.

"God gives us all special gifts, we just have to reach in our soul to find that Gift that he gave only to us", says Ms. Stockard.

It has been her mission to bring the cultural community together in art and music. She is an advocate in supporting the community through the Rutherford Arts Alliance, teaching art classes to low income families, and working with other city groups to promote all artists to a different level.

The gallery space is an interdepartmental partnership between The City of Murfreesboro's Patterson Park Community Center and The Washington Theatre. Its mission is to offer a decentralized platform for the local community to engage in the production of, and ideas generated by, contemporary art through exhibitions, dialogue, educational programming, and community events. This project space showcases and supports novel art and ideas that promote accessibility, inclusion and creative growth in a manner appropriate to the community space in which it resides.

The Washington Theatre is an accessible performance and event space in Patterson Park Community Center. Home to Perform Murfreesboro, a professional youth theatre education program, The Washington Theatre facilitates community arts programming, theatre education, and rental space for private and public productions.

Murfreesboro Parks and Recreation Department is dedicated to providing vibrant public spaces and inclusive programs delivered with visionary leadership and caring staff that engage the individual and strengthen the quality of life of our community.
