An alleged road rage situation unfolded Monday night on South Church Street. If you were in the area of Sonic and the Kangaroo Gas Station around 8pm, you may have seen multiple Murfreesboro City Police cars and Rutherford County Sheriff Deputies. Here’s why…

According to police reports, a father and a son were allegedly intoxicated and driving down the street when the son reportedly yelled obscenities and racial slurs to a woman of African American descent. 48-year old Wade Flannery who was said to be behind the wheel of his truck when his 20-year old son allegedly yelled at another motorist, was charged with DUI and furnishing alcohol to his son who is one year away from hitting the legal drinking age. Daxton Flannery, the son, was charged with underage consumption, public intoxication and disorderly conduct.

One of the arrest reports shows that an unbiased witness confirmed the accusations as police were standing in front of the Golden Gallon. A police officer wrote in that same report, “As I was speaking to Daxton he was very unsteady on his feet having to lean onto a vehicle to stay upright.” Once at the local jail, he had to be isolated on his own because he was reportedly causing problems with staff and other inmates.

One of the victims in the road rage incident who was in the car allegeldy being harrassed by the father and son, was MTSU senior middle linebacker Roderic Blunt. The 23-year old was seen describing to police what occured on Monday night. Blunt claims the duo were swerving on the road and the son was hanging out the window yelling, prior to police arrival.
