Survivors of sexual assault and domestic violence will conclude the academic year by expressing themselves through their original poems, storytelling and music. The Lavinia Project will conduct a year-end reading at 6:30 this Thursday (4/27/2017) night at Just Love Coffee, 129 E. MTCS Road in Murfreesboro.

"The Lavinia Project is an expressive writing workshop group and community literacy project comprised of survivors of sexual and/or domestic violence along with their witnesses and allies," said Dr. Matthew Brown, a lecturer in the MTSU Department of English.

Brown started the Lavinia Project in conjunction with an MTSU student after conducting workshops at a local women's and children's crisis center.

A published poet, Brown also is co-founder of Writers' Corps, a group of student-veterans who publish their personal expressions in an annual literary magazine called DMZ.
