The local community and friends of the fallen Blue Angel pilot who was killed last week when his jet crashed in Smyrna continue to support the family with monetary donations.

In the first 24-hours alone, almost 110-thousand dollars was raised for the family of Marine Captain Jeff Kuss. As of Monday afternoon, that amount was up to over 240-thousand dollars and shows no signs of letting up.

A Go Fund Me account was set up by Kuss' sister-in-law, Nicole Ferrarese Perino, shortly after the crash last Thursday. She says support has come in from all over the world and the family support fund goal has been raised to 500-thousand dollars. Kuss left behind his wife, Christina and two small children, Calvin, age four and Sloane, age one.

Monday afternoon, Christina, told supporters she's "humbled at the amount of love and support" she's received. She added "I feel you all deeply and want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart."

There are a number of ways you can contribute to the family's financial needs. Those who attended the Great American Air Show in Smyrna over the weekend contributed, with a portion of the ticket sales going to the family. In addition to the Go Fund Me page, the International Council of Air Shows has set up a foundation to honor fallen pilots. Contributions can be made to the Jeff Kuss Foundation.
