Sunday may indeed be Murfreesboro's best Christmas Parade. This year's theme is "Peace On Earth" and the parade starts on East Main Street at Middle Tennnessee Boulevard. It goes down East Main, around the square, onto West Main and ends on Walnut Street.

Parade Coordinator Lee Ann Walker shares highlights from the parade . . .

Categories that will be jurried in this Sunday afternoon's Christmas parade include:

  • MAYOR'S CUP AWARD (best overall entry)
  • Chamber of Commerce President's Award
  • Best Walking Entry
  • Best Scout Entry
  • Best Float (Civic Organization)
  • Best Float (Church or School)
  • Best Float (Business)
  • Best Horse Entry

This is the 34th year that WGNS Radio has coordinated the parade. We especially thank our working sponsors: ATMOS Energy creates the Santa Claus float, the Stones River Amateur Radio Club is in charge of communications during line-up of the entries as well as throughout the parade, the Murfreesboro Noon Exchange Club lines-up the entries, Synergy Bank hands out the awards and has two bank representatives carrying a banner before each recipient announcing the category in which they won. And L & K Tropy created the awards.

Again, the Murfreesboro Christmas Parade is 2:00 o'clock this coming Sunday afternoon, December 10, 2017. Tell your friends, and join your neighbors at this fun holiday tradition.
