WGNS now has an update on the head on collision that left a motorcycle rider dead on Sunday morning (7/20/14) in Christiana. As we previously reported, 19-year old Catlina T. Snoddy from College Grove was driving the wrong way down 231 South when she hit the motorcyclist head on, according to the Tennessee Highway Patrol. Motorcyclist William A. Wright, age 45, was killed instantly. The THP report shows that Snoddy was thought to have been drinking, prior to driving the wrong way down 231 South.

Sgt. Bill Miller with the THP told WGNS on Thursday, no charges have been brought against Snoddy as of yet. Miller stated in an email, “Per the Rutherford County District Attorney, we are awaiting the results of the toxicology results before any charges  may or may not be filed. It may take several weeks for the toxicology results to return from the TBI.”

More information has been released by the Tennessee Highway Patrol about the fatal motorcycle accident that occurred this past Sunday morning on 231 South in Christiana. This is one of two wrecks that took place over the weekend. The second was on Halls Hill Pike (click here for details on the Halls Hill Pike wreck).

The wreck in Christiana occurred at about 2 in the morning on Sunday. We were told that 19-year old Catlina T. Snoddy from College Grove was driving the wrong way down 231 South when she hit the motorcyclist head on. The wreck happened near Rock Springs Midland Road. The THP confirmed that 45-year old William A. Wright of Shelbyville was headed southbound on his Honda in the southbound lane when he was struck by the truck that Snoddy was driving northbound in the southbound lane.

According to the accident report that WGNS obtained on Monday, it is believed that Snoddy had been drinking alcohol prior to operating the truck she was driving. Blood test have been submitted. The report also shows that it is not thought that Wright, who was on the motorcycle, had anything to drink prior to the wreck.

Wright died at the scene. His family has now been notified.

At this point, no charges have been filed. Blood test can take up to two weeks to conduct.
