A hit and run accident reported in Murfreesboro ended with an arrest earlier this month.

After the crash was reported to dispatch, officers located the suspect vehicle in the area of Old Fort Parkway. During a traffic stop, the driver exited the car and allegedly tried to flee on foot. However, Scott Butler was quickly caught and placed in handcuffs.

Police noted that Butler seemed to be "extremely lethargic, had slurred speech and was unsteady on his feet with slowed movements."

A witness responded to the scene and told police they observed Butler driving a silver Nissan Altima that rear-ended another motorist on Chaffin Place near Cracker Barrel and KFC. The witness who originally followed Butler after the hit and run told police they observed him collide with several curbs.

18 Year old Butler, who lives in Dyersburg, TN, was charged with DUI and Evading Arrest.
