An East Sevier Street woman is arrested after threatening to slit a Murfreesboro Police officer's throat, to blow her up, shoot her in the head and for kicking her several times.

Gwendolyn Bates, age 57, actually called police to her home to help settle a dispute over money with a neighbor. Officer Hayley Alden, who recognized Bates from two previous arrests of the woman, reports threats were made. The officer says the woman slapped her, attempted to spit on her and made various life-ending threats.

It took several officers to restrain Bates, who also had to be placed in a spit hood before being taken to the Rutherford County Adult Detention Center. When at booking, she told officers she was being treated for pancreatic cancer. Bates was taken to St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital for medical clearance. The cursing, threats and yelling allegedly continued at the E-R.

Bates faces multiple charges, including assault on an officer, resisting arrest, retaliation for past actions and disorderly conduct. Bond was set at over 31-thousand dollars and she'll be in General Sessions Court on May 4th.
