Educator-Community Leader Ivan Duggin Passed Away

(MURFREESBORO) Well known local educator and supporter of law, Ivan Duggin passed away Monday (1/27/2020).

A celebration of life service will be held at 2:00 o'clock Sunday afternoon, February 2, 2020, at Belle Aire Baptist Church. Visitation with the family will follow the service at the church.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Alive Hospice of Rutherford County, or the Mission's Committee at Belle Aire Baptist Church, Murfreesboro.

He was a teacher in the Rutherford County school system before advancement to assistant principal at Oakland High School and then principal at Holloway High. He served the schools for 49-years (1966-2009)

In addition to being a role model and one who encourages area youth, Duggin also was passionate about helping adults.

Ivan served the Rutherford County Sheriffs Office as a reserve deputy from 2010 to 2017.

He was co-founder and president of the Sheriff's Citizens Police Academy from 2011-2014.

Ivan Duggin's love for God helped to direct his next area of service. He served as chaplain of the Rutherford County Sheriffs Office from 2018 until now.
