Expiring License Plate Tags and Driver's Licenses now have EXTENSION in Expiration

The Rutherford County Clerk's office has announced that those who have expired tags will have an extension to purchase the wheel tax sticker and to update their vehicle registration.

According to provisions provided by the state of Tennessee under the governor's executive order number 15, those with tags expiring between March 12, 2020 and May 18, 2020, won't have to renew their tags until June 15, 2020.

A similar extension is being provided to those with expiring driver's licenses. Class A,B,C,D,P and M drivers licenses along with ID Only identification cards, will now expire six months from their current expiration date. This extension is for those with a license that expires between the dates of March 12, 2020 and May 18, 2020.

Rutherford County Clerk Lisa Duke Crowell told WGNS that the dates have been confirmed by the state and the Rutherford County Clerk.

Again, vehicles with tags expiring in March, April and May will have until June 15, 2020 to renew them. Drivers license's set to expire between March and May will be extended six months past their expiration date.
