A Cookville staffing firm has fallen victim to an employee scam. An employee of the out of town company allegedly created several fake checks and has been cashing them in Rutherford County. One check was cashed in Smyrna and two in the ‘Boro.  Police in Smyrna caught wind of the scheme first and a report was filed about the case.

In Murfreesboro, two checks were cashed at the Kroger Store on Old Fort Parkway and a third check was cashed at First Bank. Police have a suspect name on file, but an arrest has not been made.

WGNS will release the suspects name when an arrest is made.
