A single vehicle crash on West Jefferson Pike (State Route 266) between Smyrna and Walter Hill claims the life of a Hermitage woman. The crash happened Tuesday at 12:55am, about a mile or so from State Route 840.

Lt. Bill Miller with the Tennessee Highway Patrol tells NewsRadio WGNS 39-year old Lashanandra Shaw of Burning Tree Drive in Hermitage was killed in the accident. He says the 2007 Chevrolet Impala she was driving eastbound toward Murfreesboro left the roadway, striking a mailbox, then jumped a culvert. The vehicle came to a final rest in a tree.

Miller says Shaw was not wearing a seat belt, however the responding trooper's report indicated the restraint would likely have not made a difference. Alcohol and drugs were not believed to be a cause of the crash. However, toxicology reports have been requested as the state medical examiner has been notified.
