(MURFREESBORO) Murfreesboro Police' Fatal Accident Crash Team (FACT) continues to investigate a single-car fatal crash on Warrior Drive over the past weekend. Authorities confirm that charges are pending.

According to Public Information Officer Larry Flowers, the preliminary investigation shows that 27-year old Dustan Michael Volkman may have been speeding when he failed to negotiate a curve on Warrior Drive near Riverdale High School around 1:00 o'clock last Saturday morning (12/7/2019).

His 2012 Nissan Altima left the roadway, went into a ditch, struck a concrete culvert, overturned and came to rest on its top alongside the roadway.

Murfreesboro Fire Rescue had to extricate a trapped passenger from the wreckage.

Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services rushed both men to the ER at St. Thomas Rutherford Hospital, but 35-year old passenger Chad Ghee was pronounced deceased at the hospital. Ghee was a Rutherford County native, and lived in Rockvale.

Volkman is being treated for a broken leg and other injuries.

No charges have been filed, but the FACT team is awaiting the results of the blood-alcohol analysis.
