Fires, Fires and More Fires?

Murfreesboro is not the only area that has seen its fair share of fires in recent days. A well known business in nearby Manchester caught fire on Thursday.

An emergency call came out around 12:30pm Thursday afternoon in Manchester that said a business was on fire on the Murfreesboro Hwy. When emergency crews arrived they found J&J Restaurant was burning. 

When the fire was discovered by restaurant staff they quickly evacuated the building and called 911. Manchester Firefighters went to work quickly to try extinguish the roaring blaze and heavy smoke. Tullahoma fireman were summoned to the scene to assist Manchester with a snorkel truck. Firemen battled the blaze for a long period of time trying to save what they could. Hickerson Station and Tullahoma fire departments were on standby for any emergency service if needed in Manchester.

J & J Restaurant has been in business for many years. According to Manchester Fire Chief George DeShields, the restaurant has now been deemed a total loss. DeShields added that they believe the fire started in the back of the building. The cause of the fire is currently under investigation.

DeShields said no injuries were reported. He also thanked Hickerson Station and Tullahoma Fire departments for their help along with Manchester police, Coffee Co. Sheriff’s department, Coffee Co. EMS and Coffee Co. Emergency Management for their quick response.
