Founder of Sir Pizza Passes Away

Robert and Nona (no-nuh) Fortner founded Sir Pizza 50-years ago. Mrs. Nona now joins her husband after passing away Sunday at the age of 93.

The Muncie, Indiana, native came to Murfreesboro with her husband and followed a dream that their children now continue in Fortner Foods, which operates the Sir Pizza locations here.

Mrs. Fortner is survived by her sons Rod and Bruce and daughter Nona Poole, a brother Lucky Maze and many grandchildren and great grandchildren.


Nona was also fond of her time with the St. Clair Street Senior Center Clowns and the Red Hat Society. She also loved to bowl, even into her late 80's.

Visitation will be Wednesday from 3-7pm at Woodfin Chapel with funeral services at 1pm Thursday at Woodfin. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Chapel.
