Four year old struck by vehicle Wednesday night in Christiana

A young child was hit by a vehicle on Wednesday evening in Rutherford County. The accident occurred on Laurel Lane behind Christiana Middle School.

The four year old was attempting to cross the street when she was struck by a vehicle in the neighborhood. The 30-year old driver of the truck that hit the child was said to be a nearby neighbor. The driver was not charged with any wrongdoing in the tragic accident.

The child was flown by helicopter to Vanderbilt Medical Center in Nashville. No word on the condition of the child at this point.

Crash Description:

Vehicle 1 was traveling eastbound on Laurel Lane when a small child entered onto Laurel Lane directly in front of the vehicle. The child was attempting to cross the street from a neighbors house to go back to her residence. It was when the child was near the center area of the eastbound lane of Laurel Lane that she was struck by the vehicle. First responders arrived on scene and the victim was immediately placed on Vanderbilt's Life Flight to Vanderbilt.
