Trail told us the county schools are also participating in the summer feeding program.

From Rutherford County: 

As part of the annual Summer Feeding program, select Rutherford County Schools will offer free breakfast and lunch for anyone 18 and under during the months of June and July.

The following schools will offer Summer Feeding services (please note that all locations except Murfreesboro and Smyrna Boys and Girls Club will be open to the public):

  • Cedar Grove
  • John Colemon
  • Kittrell Elem.
  • Lavergne High
  • LaVergne Middle 
  • Murfreesboro Boys and Girls Club (closed site)
  • Rock Springs Middle
  • Roy Waldron
  • Smyrna Elementary
  • Smyrna Boys and Girls Club (closed site)
  • Smyrna Middle 
  • Stewartsboro 
  • Walter Hill
  • Whitworth Buchanan Middle

The federally funded Summer Feeding program is provided each year in high poverty areas to ensure area children have access to a proper nutrition while school is not in session. Meals also are available for adults, who may purchase breakfast for $2 and lunch for $3. The program will run on weekdays from June 4-July 27 except at Kittrell & Rock Springs they will be open May 29th - July 27th (but will be closed on July 4). Parents and students should contact individual sites for serving times.
