FRIDAY: VA to host POW/MIA Day event

Tennessee Valley Healthcare System (TVHS) will hold a special ceremony honoring former Prisoners of War (POW) and those Missing in Action (MIA) on Friday, September 21 at 11:00 a.m. The event will be held at the Smyrna Event Center, 100 Sam Ridley Pkwy E, Smyrna, TN 37167.

The theme for this year is Noble Mission, Global Effort. Several former POW's from World War II and the Vietnam War will attend, and Commissioner Many-Bears Grinder, Tennessee Department of Veterans Services, will present a proclamation on behalf of Governor Bill Haslam.

The program will include guest speakers Cindy Stonebraker, National League of POW/MIA Families Kentucky State Coordinator, and Cathy Mullins, President of the Department of Kentucky Gold Star Mothers. There will also be a special musical selection by Operation Song.
