Frivolous Lawsuit Law in Tennessee Under Fire

A Nashville Democratic state lawmaker is leading a charge to repeal legislation passed last year, which was meant to shield some people from frivolous lawsuits.

State Representative Mike Stewart tells NewsChannel 5 the bill could discourage sexual harrassment victims from suing lawmakers for fear they'd be liable for thousands of dollars in legal fees:

The bill does force those who sue public officials - but lose their case - to pay their legal fees.
