One of several suspect wanted by the U.S. Secret Service for $2 million in fraudulent purchases was apprehended Monday on Interstate 24 by the Rutherford County Sheriff's Office's Interstate Crime Enforcement Unit.

Driver Kyandre Banks, 26, of Lilburn, Ga., had a federal fugitive warrant for his arrest by the U.S. Secret Service in Boise, Idaho, said ICE Sgt. Shawn Applegate. The Secret Service reported he was previously indicted on charges of aggravated identity theft, wire fraud and conspiracy and had been on the run for more than a year.

"The group that he was indicted with is alleged to have committed over $2 million in fraudulent purchases," Sgt. Applegate reported.

ICE deputies stopped Banks on a traffic stop. They searched the vehicle he drove and found a laptop computer, a card scanning device and dozens of gift cards, the sergeant reported. The ICE deputies found receipts showing purchase in Kentucky and Murfreesboro for multiple gift cards at Kroger's stores.

Banks' passenger, Muriki Rezende, 18, of Norcross, Ga., was found with three fake identifications from California and Texas, the sergeant reported.

ICE deputies charged the pair with felony criminal simulation. Banks is being held without bond for the Secret Service while Rezende is being held on $10,000 bond. A hearing is set Nov. 17 in General Sessions Court.
