FUN: National Night Out is a fun community event that is on Tuesday

On Tuesday night, August 05, 2014 from 5:00 P.M. until approximately 8:30 P.M. the Murfreesboro Fire and Rescue and Police Departments, Murfreesboro Housing Authority, Rutherford County Emergency Medical Services, Tennessee Army National Guard, and various other groups will be co-hosting “National Night Out”.  Citizens are asked to lock their doors and windows on their houses, turn on their porch lights and come outside to spend the afternoon and evening with their neighbors and local law enforcement officers. Thousands of citizens across the nation will be joining forces to celebrate this national event. 

Murfreesboro Police Chief Glenn Chrisman told WGNS News during the last National Night Out. 


National Night Out is designed to encourage the entire community to partnership with local law enforcement officers to reduce crime in their neighborhoods and work places. The night will target crime and drug prevention awareness, generate support and participation in all anti-crime efforts, and strengthen the cooperation between police and citizens. The event sends a loud and clear message to criminals they are not welcome in the City of Murfreesboro.



In Murfreesboro there will be six (6) sites which are: Franklin Heights; Oakland Park; Patterson Park Community Center; Rogers Park (Opening Ceremonies at 6:00 P.M.);  Sports Com; and Spring Valley Apartments.

Franklin Heights: Bingo; Water Spray, Music, Free Food Court, Local Civic Resource Information

Oakland Park: Bingo, Music, Bead Art, Water Spray, Local Civic Resource Information

Patterson Park: Bounce Houses, Face Painting, Live Entertainment, Climbing Wall, Water Spray

Rogers Park: Cookout, Basketball, Bounce houses, Bingo, Music, Various carnival games

Sports Com: Climbing Wall, Music, Face Painting, Balloon Toss, Free Outdoor Swim

Spring Valley: Music, Youth and Adult Games, Bounce House, Face Painting, Slip & Slides
