It was an up and down game for both the Blaze and the Blue Tornado Friday at Blackman High, but in the end, it was the leg of Thomas Burks that won them their first game of the year.

Three touchdowns and a field goal were scored in the final four-minutes of the game. Blackman went up by two touchdowns after a Taeler Dowdy 5-yard run to make it 41-27. But a quick McCallie score followed by an onside kick and touchdown and two point conversion gave the Blue Tornado a 42-41 lead with 51-seconds to go. The Blaze marched down the field from the 20 to set up Burks' game winning field goal.

Blaze quarterback Miller Armstrong accounted for more than half of the total offense, racking up 200-yards on 7-of-10 passing and added 72-yards on 13 carries. Blackman had 500 total yards of offense. Blake Taylor led Blackman on defense with six tackles. Sam Luker, James Brown and Justin Brown had five each.

Next up for the Blaze is the Backyard Brawl with Riverdale. NewsRadio WGNS will have that game from the Inferno next Friday night.
