The Girls Scouts of Middle Tennessee invites the Murfreesboro community to their Giving Tree Event on December 7. Stop by the Murfreesboro Water Department from 9 to 11 a.m. onthe 7th of Dec. with your animal friendly ornament to hang on the Giving Tree or bring your supplies to make an ornament on site.

You may ask, "What is an animal friendly ornament?" Dawn Rhodes, the Regional Executive Director of the Girl Scouts of Middle Tennessee stated, "The ornaments are for the squirrels and birds. Made with lard, no peanut butter due to peanut allergies and seeds, cranberries or cereal.

The Girl Scouts will also be collecting nonperishable food for the local food banks.

Rhodes told WGNS in an email...

"An investment in Girl Scouts is more than a cause or a cure…it’s a commitment to a generation. Our volunteers are changing the world by supporting the young women who are the future. By giving your time and sharing your skills with other Girl Scouts, you can make it possible to for girls to become girls of courage, confidence and character. Get started today and discover how you can help girls make the world a better place."
