(MURFREESBORO) At 11:00 o'clock Saturday (11/10/2018) morning, there was a fly-over at the Alvin C. York V.A. Medical Center that took place immediately after the presentation of colors and the playing of our National Anthem. This was all a part of the Annual Veterans Day Parade sponsored by the Tennessee Valley Healthcare System.

You could hear the wind blowing as Governor Elect Bill Lee told those in attendance . . .

The event is more special this year, as it honors veterans of World War I that took place a century ago.

Two Grand Marshals Honored

Sgt. Carl E. Lee

Cookeville native Sgt. Carl E. Lee was a tank driver in the Tennessee National Guard. He served two tours in Iraq after 9/11. He left the military after the birth of his third daughter and worked alongside his father in their family's business. He helped his mother write a book and screenplay, The Lonesome Soldier--The Long Road Home.

Jesse Aquirre

The other grand marshal was Jesse "Cayote" Aguirre. This El Paso native served in the 502nd Infantry Regiment of the 101st Airborne Division during Desert Storm/Desert Shield (1990-1991). Jesse currently serves as the Chapter Commander of the Combat Veterans Motorcycle Association, Chapter 18-1. They support the veterans in Section 8-A on the York campus, as well as continued support of Operation Stand Down Tennessee.

Prior to the talk from dignitaries and the Veterans Parade, 10-year Air Force Veteran and Nashville songwriter and performer Doug Toalston entertained the crowd with his tremendous musical talents.
