Greenhouse Ministries is hosting a turkey drive on November 16 from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. in the hopes of receiving 500 turkeys from the community. Greenhouse Ministries will distribute the turkeys the following day, November 17, at their monthly Mobile Food Pantry event through their partnership with Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee.

Once a month, a sponsor pays for a semi-truck filled with food to bring from Second Harvest Food Bank of Middle Tennessee. For this Mobile Food Pantry and Turkey Giveaway, we will have two semi-trucks, sponsored by two separate sponsors. This year, our sponsors are Kingdom Ministries Church and Shawn and Jennifer Kaplan with The Coffee Drop Project.

Greenhouse Ministries Director of Operations, Julie Young, shares her thankfulness.

"I am thankful for the giving community we live in," Young said. "Because of their generosity, families who would be unable to have a Thanksgiving with their families will now be able to have one."

If you would like to donate a turkey, come to Greenhouse Ministries on November 16 from 6 a.m. until 5 p.m. Greenhouse Ministries is also asking for volunteers for their Mobile Food Pantry and Turkey Giveaway on November 17, from 8 a.m. until 1 p.m. at Greenhouse Ministries' location. If you are interested in volunteering at the Mobile Food Pantry and Turkey Giveaway, contact Julie Young at julie.young@greenhousemin.org.

Looking back to 2016:

Cliff Sharp, founder of Greenhouse Ministries told WGNS that he talked to the folks as they were picking up turkeys last year and they told him...

Every November, Greenhouse Ministries holds a turkey drive where local residents drop off frozen turkeys. Those turkeys are later picked up and taken home and cooked by families so that they can enjoy a thanksgiving dinner in their home.

In 2016, well over 7,000 pounds of turkeys were donated to Greenhouse Ministries.
