Greenhouse Ministries Receives grant from Walmart

Greenhouse Ministries accepted a grant for $2,000 from Wal-Mart Stores Inc. store 2757 located in Murfreesboro.

The grant allows Greenhouse Ministries' to further enhance their Learning Center programs by providing the funds for educational materials and operating costs. This includes every adult education class from sewing to budgeting that Greenhouse Ministries offers, all free of charge. Greenhouse Ministries' Investor Relations Specialist, Sarah Gwinn, describes the excitement from receiving the grant.

"We are very grateful for this education grant from our local Wal-Mart store," Gwinn said. "Store 2757's investment in our students' future is invaluable as students seek to improve their lives and employment prospects with education. With this funding, we will be able to provide our adult education students with high quality evidence-based educational materials that can help them to thrive in our community."

Wal-Mart Stores Inc. Assistant Store Manager of store 2757, Kelvin Sales, also recognizes the benefits of this grant.

"Wal-Mart is very excited in the opportunity to support a great organization such as Greenhouse Ministries, which prides itself in doing great works within our community," Sales said. "We look forward to our partnership with Greenhouse Ministries in an effort to impact our community in positive and productive ways."

Greenhouse Ministries is a nonprofit organization that offers a holistic approach to helping people. Greenhouse Ministries offers to help, educate and connect. Greenhouse helps by providing food, clothes, toiletries, household items, legal clinic, nursing clinic, and much more. Greenhouse educates by offering classes from budgeting to GED tutoring. Greenhouse connects by connecting clients with jobs, housing and other resources. Greenhouse was co-founded by Cliff and Jane Sharp in 1999 after the couple worked for the local pregnancy center and had a calling to serve those in need. Seventeen years later, Greenhouse Ministries has thrived and acquires donations of food, furniture and clothing every day, and every day the organization provides those items for individuals and families in need. Built on Christian principles, the motto of Greenhouse is "planting hope in the 'Boro," and the organization strives to help clients go from needing to giving back.
