A 19-year old Greenland Drive man has been charged with unlawful possession of a weapon by Murfreesboro Police following his arrest.

Tyree Brown was taken into custody by Officer Dominik Riley Thursday night, close to midnight. The officer reports doing a routine patrol check on Manor Avenue when he noticed the suspect and another man sitting in a vehicle "covered in smoke."

Officer Riley reports the odor of marijuana and asked the two to step out of the vehicle. A search of the men reportedly revealed a 9mm Beretta handgun in Brown's right jacket pocket.

After a check revealed a warrant for violation of probation for Brown, he was arrested and additionally charged with unlawful possession of a weapon.
