The Association for the Preservation of Tennessee Antiquities (APTA), Rutherford County Chapter, will hold a marking Sunday, Nov. 22, of the Historic Rion Home to note its historical designation.

The home, located at 330 E. Lytle St. in Murfreesboro, was built in 1899 by Edwin Thomas and Nancy Gum Rion. Nancy was Judy Garland's great aunt. According to conversations with some of the Gum family members, Judy and her father visited Edwin and Nancy at their Murfreesboro home on several occasions.

Nancy was also a founding member of the Craddock Study Club in the 1920s. The club was named for Murfreesboro author, Mary Noailles Murfree, who published her Tennessee short stories under the pen name Charles Egbert Craddock.

The current home owners, Chip and Aimee Hoover, will host a reception at the 2 to 4 p.m. event. For more information, please call APTA Chapter President Bonnie Nemeth at (217) 427-3790.
