Bring School Supplies To Salvation Army through Aug. 1st

The Salvation Army of Murfreesboro and Rutherford County once again is collecting donations of back-to-school supplies for children from kindergarten through 12th grade, Teresa Olson, social services case worker, said.

For K-fifth grade students, donations can include backpacks, pencils, erasers, wide-ruled paper, folders, scissors, crayons, markers, pencil sharpener, hand sanitizer and handi-wipes.

For students in grades six through 12, items can include backpacks, pencils, erasers, college-ruled paper, folders, binders, calculators, colored pencils, pencil sharpener, hand sanitizer and pocket tissue. Donations can be brought in by Monday, Aug. 1, to the local facility at 1137 W. Main St., adjacent to New Salem Highway and one block from Old Fort Parkway. Drop-off hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday and 8 a.m. until noon on Friday.

Backpacks and school supplies will be distributed Thursday, Aug. 4, starting at 9 a.m., a Salvation Army official said.

“Please consider helping a needy Rutherford County child start school ready to learn,” Olson said.
The Salvation Army, a partner agency with the United Way of Rutherford and Cannon counties, is a first-year member of the Rutherford County Chamber of Commerce.
